Setting up white light (widget type "White light")

Updated 9 October 2026Lighty

With the widget type White light you combine two channels into one light: one for warm white, one for cool white. You get a tile you can use to dim and to adjust the colour temperature smoothly from cosy warm to clear and bright. Ideal for tunable white strips, which are often also sold as CCT or dual white.

1. Choose the widget type

Go to Lighting, then to Add widget and choose White light (warm & cool white).

Choose widget type: light, ambient light and white light

2. Choose the module

Choose the Lighty your strip is connected to.

Choose module: Lighty with a descriptive name

3. Set the two channels

Set which channel the warm white light is connected to and which the cool white. Usually these are the WW and CW channels, but you can also choose two other free channels. The remaining channels stay free, for example for more lights.

4. Configure

  • Name and icon for the tile, for example "Bed light".
  • Fuse: at which current it switches off and how quickly: fast, normal or slow (time-delay). The highest selectable value results automatically from the current still available, up to 20A in total across all channels.
  • Voltage protection: undervoltage (UVP) and overvoltage (OVP) protect your battery, simply activate them.
  • External switch: whether a wall push button or a switch is connected to the channel.
  • Wireless push buttons: which buttons on your paired wireless push buttons switch this light, several too, for example at the entrance and at the bed.

Setting voltage protection, external switch and wireless push buttons

Done. Your white light appears as one tile with brightness and colour temperature, operable with the wall push button, the wireless push button, the SmartKnob and in the dashboard.

Good to know: what WW and CW mean exactly and which widget type suits which strip is explained in the article "RGB, WW, CW: what the abbreviations mean".
