Electronic fuses: adjust instead of replace

Updated 9 October 2026Ampy

Ampy replaces classic blade fuses with electronic fuses, one per output. You can set the trip value freely, from 0.5A up to the full channel current.

When a fuse trips

The output switches off, and you see it straight away in the dashboard, including the reason. Resetting takes one tap. No spare fuse in the glovebox, no screwdriver, no fuse box behind the bench seat.

Fast, normal or slow

For each load you choose the trip characteristic, just like with real circuit breakers. That way the water pump may briefly draw more when it starts up, while an LED strip is protected immediately.

Protection against persistent faults

If you keep resetting a fuse even though the fault remains, you get a short enforced pause. That way a real defect is not clicked away until something gets hot.

Change instead of rebuild

Does a load draw more than expected? You change the fuse value in the interface, without tools and without taking anything apart.

Fast, normal or slow: which one do I use?

The characteristic determines how quickly it switches off when the current is too high. Rule of thumb: slow for everything that briefly draws more when switched on, fast for pure electronics, normal for everything in between.

  • Slow: water pump, compressor fridge, fan, awning, pop-top roof, inverter. These loads draw a multiple of their continuous current at the moment they switch on, and that is completely normal.
  • Fast: LED strips, sensors, control units, charging sockets. Here a sudden rise in current is almost always a fault.
  • Normal: the safe choice if you are unsure.

Important: if the fuse only trips when switching on while the continuous current is fine, set it one step slower. Turning up the fuse value because of this would be the wrong way, because it still has to match the cable cross-section.
