Detecting water leaks: how the leak cable works

Updated 9 October 2026Fluidy

The leak detection of Fluidy Pro works with a 3m long water-sensitive leak cable: as soon as liquid bridges the cable at any point, Fluidy Pro raises an alarm on the SmartKnob.

How to route the cable correctly

  1. Route it along the floor where a leak would show up first: under the pump and boiler, along the water installation and at the water filter.
  2. Run it flat on the floor in one continuous line, without loops and knots, and use the supplied cable holders.
  3. Connect the end connector to the dedicated leak port on Fluidy Pro. The polarity does not matter.

Several leak cables

If you need more coverage, for example under the shower, in the kitchen unit and in the rear storage compartment, you can run several leak cables in parallel to the leak port. The measuring principle has no hard limit on the number. It does not matter on which cable the leak occurs, the alarm is triggered.

Alarm without a visible leak

Wipe the cable dry and check whether it is lying in a puddle of condensation. Route the affected section away from the condensation zone.

Maintenance

Maintenance includes cleaning dust and condensation residue off the wires of the leak detection once a year.
