Ampy Energy Insight Module

Ampy is the smart power distribution in the Camper Jarvis system. Six loads – water pump, fridge, fan, lights, heater, awning – connect to one device that switches, protects, measures and dims each of them individually. Instead of swapping blown fuses, you set values; instead of crawling to the fuse box, you tap your phone. What each output draws, you see live in the dashboard or on the SmartKnob. You operate it just as flexibly: from a wall switch, the SmartKnob or the dashboard. Everything runs locally in the vehicle, with no cloud and no internet required.

Fuses you never replace

Each of the six outputs has an electronic fuse – freely adjustable from 0.5A up to the full channel current. If it trips, you see it instantly in the dashboard, including the reason, and reset it with a single tap. No spare fuse in the glovebox, no screwdriver, no fuse box behind the bench. And because you pick the trip characteristic per load – fast, normal or slow – the water pump may draw a brief surge on start-up while the LED strip may not.

Strong enough for the big loads

24A continuous per output, up to 32A short-term, and 120A across all six outputs together. Compressor fridge, inverter, diesel heater, pressure water pump – not a special case, just everyday use. Ampy detects automatically whether your system runs on 12V or 24V; there is nothing to set.

You see where your power goes

Ampy measures voltage, current and power for every output and shows it to you live – not estimated, measured. For the first time you know in black and white what the fridge draws, what the heater costs and where the battery really goes overnight. That is how you plan off-grid living instead of guessing. An adjustable under- and over-voltage protection per load also shields your battery from deep discharge and sensitive devices from voltage spikes.

Every output becomes what you need

In the dashboard you create a widget for each output and choose what is connected there – light, water pump, fridge, boiler, awning, pop-top roof and more. The widget then stands for the function itself, not for a technical power channel. Motors such as pop-top roof, awning or step run on two outputs with a direction lock: Ampy never allows both directions at once – not even if the wireless link briefly drops. A short wizard guides you through setup; afterwards you can rename or adjust any widget at any time – with no rebuild.

Switch and dim light – without an extra device

Every output can not only switch light but also dim it, up to 5A per output. That covers reading lamps, kitchen and bathroom lights, spots and white LED strips. At the wall switch: a short press = on and off, hold = brighter and darker, double tap = all lights in the vehicle off – the goodnight switch with no extra wiring.

Operation without relearning

You operate Ampy however suits you: at a wall button or switch (one per output), on the SmartKnob or in the browser dashboard, where every device on the vehicle WiFi becomes a remote – with no app at all. Everything is equal and in sync: what happens at the button appears instantly in the dashboard and vice versa. And right on the device, a light per output shows the real state – blue means power is on, red means off. Even with a dead phone you see at once what is actually running.

Protection that thinks ahead

Ampy monitors current, voltage and temperature at the same time and switches into a safe state in case of a fault. After a fault, restart or power loss, all outputs are off to begin with – but your settings are preserved. And anyone who keeps resetting a fuse while the fault remains gets a short enforced pause: that way a real defect is not clicked away until something gets hot.

Safety to automotive standard

Ampy is developed to ISO 26262 up to ASIL B – the functional-safety standard by which airbags, ABS and electronic steering are built in cars. Put simply: it is not enough for a device to work normally – it must also be thought through and proven what happens when something fails. Picture two drivers: one hopes nothing goes wrong; the other already has a plan B for every fault. Ampy is the second one. If the main controller fails, an independent second watchdog takes over – like a co-pilot watching over the pilot – and brings all outputs into the safe state in a controlled way. ASIL B is the safety level reached here; the scale runs from A to D. The key semiconductors in the power and safety path are additionally AEC-Q100 automotive-qualified, built for hard continuous use in a vehicle. In this depth, that is the exception in camper accessories, not the rule.

Wired in minutes

The loads go into high-quality Phoenix lever terminals up to 4mm²: lever up, wire in, lever down – no tools. The button wires plug into removable spring terminals that you can prepare at the workbench and simply plug in inside the vehicle. Only the main supply is bolted to two solid M6 studs, where it belongs.

Part of the Camper Jarvis system

Ampy connects wirelessly and entirely locally to the SmartKnob – with no dedicated control wire, no cloud. Once paired, Ampy finds its system again by itself, even after a power interruption. All settings also live in the device itself: if the SmartKnob fails, buttons and fuses keep working. Ampy plays together with the other modules – water from Fluidy, battery from Volty, lighting mood from Lighty, heating from Heaty – all in one dashboard. New features arrive wirelessly through the dashboard.

Good to know: Ampy protects the loads behind it – protecting the main feed and the battery remains the job of the vehicle installation. Dimming goes up to 5A per output, switching handles far more.
